2017 Winners

The Southern California Garden Club proudly awarded four scholarships in 2017.

The scholarships were available to outstanding high school seniors or college students who reside within Los Angeles, Ventura or San Bernardino Counties.

To receive the scholarship, a student must have been accepted and enrolled in a two or four-year college or university in a program focusing on Horticulture, Botany, Biology, Earth science or a related major before the end of 2017.

In June we recognized and honored four deserving candidate winners of our SCGC Scholarships:

High school recipient Amanda Gonzalez, a recent graduate of Sylmar High School received $700.00.

Mt. San Antonio College student Raymond Martinez received $1100.

Ngoc Lam will attend both Mt. San Antonio College and Cal Poly Pomona in the fall, studying landscape architecture and ornamental horticulture.

Srividya Krishnan continues at Mt. San Antonio College and received her second SCGC scholarship.

Winners were invited to join us for lunch following the June meeting. Amanda Gonzalez and Raymond Martinez were unable to attend the meeting, but Ngoc and Srividya were able to be there and expressed their appreciation for the awards and shared their future goals and plans.

It is wonderful to support these deserving students!
